Officials: Double bombing kills 10 in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) ? The mayor of a northern Iraqi city says at least 10 people have been killed in a double bombing near a crowded restaurant.

Mayor Abdul Ahl Abbas said a car exploded Wednesday afternoon near a popular restaurant in downtown Tal Afar, a mid-sized city about 90 miles (150 kilometers) east of the Syrian border.

As people rushed to the scene to help, a suicide bomber in the crowd detonated his explosives belt.

Abbas said 12 people were wounded.

Police officials expected the death toll to rise.

BAGHDAD (AP) ? Iraqi officials say a car bomb has killed two and wounded seven people in western Baghdad.

A police official says the bomb exploded Wednesday in a car parked in a commercial area full of shops and clinics in the Sunni-dominated Mansour neighborhood.

A hospital official confirmed the death toll. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

Violence has dropped considerably since the height of Iraq's insurgency just a few years ago, but deadly attacks still happen almost every day.
